Mackenzie Mystery Minis took me back to the watch my dad purchased for me when I graduated from high school. That was a proud moment for both of us. It felt magical, fun and exciting because we spent time together. I could still picture how we laughed as I tried on various watches. His warmth, laughter, smiles and kindness still lingers in my memories of my dad, Edward Reed. He would tell me long stories and sometimes short versions of his tall tales. I didn’t know what was real and what was his imagination. Either way it left a lasting impression. Mackenzie’s world opened when she opened her heart to remember her grandfather. This is my story told through my granddaughter Mackenzie.
Middle Maddy was created from my childhood memories and vivid imagination. When I taught Fire Prevention to 5th graders I would enter the principal’s office. I saw familiar looks or expressions that had me reflect on my many visits to that office. I saw in their eyes what I probably felt when I was instructed to go to the principal’s office. Sometimes I didn’t know why but just went because I was instructed to go. I felt I was misunderstood and during that misunderstanding led me either to the principal’s office or time out discipline at home. What I know now is that I didn’t know then that I was establishing my independence as a middle child. My parents and the village understood, supported my growth and my antics. As I look back, I want to share the nostalgia that we sometimes forget but embraced when remembered.
Well, here I am again, another Middle Maddy series. I enjoyed sharing the stories from Middle Maddy with various reading audiences that laughed as it reminded them of their youth. I was overwhelmed by all the positive reception from both young and old. I embraced their feedback and listened to their suggestions. They have and will be included in every book. I’m so thankful that I was able to read my children’s books at elementary schools, libraries, community events and at the Multi-Cultural Children’s bookstore in Richmond, California. I’m thankful for my family, friends and supporters. My grandchildren Mackenzie, Jaxson and Carter are my greatest inspiration. Thank God for His many blessings.
Middle Maddy Mad Summer was created remembering how summers seemed short. I only knew when school ended when my mother would take me to the bakery for my favorite cherry chip cookies. Then it was very hot, and yahoo summer has started! To make it official when we had to change into our summer clothes. My mother enrolled us every summer in summer school. This was no fun because it cut into my summer activities. Plus, I was in school with my same classmates asking the same questions
I felt that once I finished up summer school then it was time to enjoy my summer. For some reason that felt so short lived. I found myself going with my mother to pick out school clothes and school supplies. Summer for some reason just felt so short. What happened to summer fun in the sun and playtime. You can only exhale with no more summer! No more riding bikes, climbing trees, playing softball, going swimming, or other summer activities. Now we are approaching coming inside the house before the streetlights came on. Everyone knew that rule on our block, and other neighborhoods. Right when I was getting used to staying up late and sleeping in. Now I’m back to going to bed early and waking up earlier. I had to wonder did anyone my age felt the same way. Summer felt as if it was only a few weeks and not months. Enjoy Maddy as she experiences how her summer felt short... Now back to long days of school.
Say With Me My ABCs was created when my grandson, Jaxson asked when I was going to write a book with him. I was also asked by others when will a toddler book become available. I would tell them about my future books and listen to their excitement. This encouragement helped me to realize that I needed to get started. So, this is my first toddler book and many more to come. I’m excited to share and continue with real fun with enjoyment of reading. When I was younger it was hard for me to say and recite my ABC’s. Now I share with others that might have difficulty in learning. The joy of learning is fundamental.
I would like to thank the readers for believing in me enough to purchase my first Adult Contemporary Novel. When I started writing and finished some years later, my hopes were that this book would reach one person and make a difference.in their life. Now I See Clearly did reach one person and that was me. It helped in my healing process. I hope this will encourage and inspire more people to write down their thoughts and someday become authors. When that happens, you will see clearly.
Do I Know My Colors is the second toddler book to help you learn your colors with fun. Collaborating with my grandson Carter was highly rewarding in fostering his development. I had to find a way to help him to remember his colors. Thinking about what would work. I came up with something to associate with colors. There are many figures that are associated with beautiful colors. Hopefully this will help you as well. Enjoy as you learn as you remember your colors.
